New York, New York – 22-year-old French harpist Emmanuel Ceysson opens the 46th Young Concert Artists Series with his New York debut on Monday, November 6, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall at Carnegie. The program includes guest artists Marya Martin, flutist; Jose Franch-Ballester, clarinetist; and the Jupiter String Quartet.

In addition to winning the 2006 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, Mr. Ceysson won the Gold Medal at the 2004 USA International Harp Competition in Bloomington, Indiana, where he was also awarded the Special Prize for the Best Performance of Debussy’s Danse sacrée et danse profane. Another impressive achievement is his appointment, at the age of 22, to the coveted post of principal harp of the Paris Opera Orchestra.

Suite Sylvanesque by YCA composer-in-residence Benjamin C. S. Boyle will receive its world premiere. Boyle was selected as YCA composer-in-residence in 2005. He holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and the Peabody Conservatory, and has studied with an impressive list of renowned composers including Narcis Bonet, David del Tredici, Christopher Theofanidis, Samuel Adler, Lukas Foss, and Nicholas Maw.

This concert is sponsored by the Peter P. Marino Prize of YCA, with additional support from the Victor Salvi Foundation, the USA International Harp Competition, and the Florence Gould Foundation. The commission for Benjamin C. S. BoyleÂ’s work is sponsored by a grant from the New York State Music Fund.

Mr. Ceysson will also open the 27th Young Concert Artists Series with his Washington, D.C. debut on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kennedy CenterÂ’s Terrace Theater. This concert is sponsored by the Alexander Kasza-Kasser Prize of YCA, with collaboration from the Victor Salvi Foudation and the USA International Harp Competition.

Young Concert Artists, Inc., a non-profit organization founded in 1961, presents the winners of its annual Auditions in debuts in New York, Boston, and Washington, DC and provides ongoing management for three or more years to launch their careers.

Mr. Ceysson will make his Chicago debut at Lyon & Healy Hall on Saturday, November 4th as part of the 2006-07 Concert Series. His program features Johann Sebastian Bach’s "French Suite No. 3 in B Minor, BMV 814," Domenico Scarlatti’s "Allegro from Sonata in C Major, K. 200" and "Andante moderato from Sonata in F Minor, K. 466," Henriette Renie’s "Ballade Fantastique," Benjamin C.S. Boyle’s "Suite Sylvanewque (2006)," Gabriel Faure’s "Une Chatelaine ensa tour, Op. 110," and Albert Zabel’s "Fantasy on Gounod’s Faust."
